The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 31(2) of the Historic Environment Scotland Act 2014(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the Historic Environment Scotland Act 2014 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2014 and comes into force on 19th January 2015.
2. 19th January 2015 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 1 (establishment of Historic Environment Scotland) of and schedule 1 (further provision about Historic Environment Scotland) to the Historic Environment Scotland Act 2014 but only for the purposes of enabling-
(a)the Scottish Ministers to appoint-
(i)persons as members of Historic Environment Scotland; and
(ii)one of those members to chair Historic Environment Scotland; and
(b)the appointment of a person as the chief executive of Historic Environment Scotland.

This Order brings into force certain provisions of the Historic Environment Scotland Act 2014 ("the Act") for the purposes of enabling Scottish Ministers to appoint persons as members of Historic Environment Scotland and to appoint one of those members as chair, and enabling the appointment of the chief executive of Historic Environment Scotland.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 9th December 2014. Sections 25 to 27 and 29 to 32 came into force on 10th December 2014.
