An Act to protect horses, asses and mules against cruel tethering; and for purposes connected therewith.
[29th July 1988]
Be it enacted by the Queen´s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:–
In section 1 of the [1911 c. 27.] Protection of Animals Act 1911 there shall be added in subsection (1) the following words after paragraph (e) "or
(f) shall tether any horse, ass or mule under such conditions or in such manner as to cause that animal unnecessary suffering;".
(1) This Act may be cited as the Protection against Cruel Tethering Act 1988.
(2) This Act shall come into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
