The Oil in Navigable Waters (Guernsey) Order 1966

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 17(3) of the Oil in Navigable Waters Act 1955 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-

1. The provisions of the Oil in Navigable Waters Act 1955 which (apart from sections 14 and 16 of the Act) apply only to British ships registered in the United Kingdom shall apply also to ships registered in Guernsey.

2. This Order may be cited as the Oil in Navigable Waters (Guernsey) Order 1966 and shall come into operation on 18th April 1966.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order applies to ships registered in Guernsey the provisions of the Oil in Navigable Waters Act 1955 which apply only to British ships registered in the United Kingdom.

Those provisions prohibit the discharge of oil from ships into prohibited sea areas (section 1), and empower the Board of Trade to make regulations requiring the fitting of equipment in ships to prevent or reduce oil pollution (section 5) and the keeping of records of matters relating to oil by masters of ships (section 7).
