The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 28(3) of the Family Law Reform Act 1969, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Family Law Reform Act 1969 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1969.
2. Parts I, II and IV of, and the Schedules to, the Family Law Reform Act 1969 shall come into force on 1st January 1970.

This Order brings certain provisions of the Family Law Reform Act 1969 into force on 1st January 1970, namely:-
Part I (which provides for the reduction of the age of majority from 21 to 18);
Part II (which makes provision for the property rights of illegitimate children); and
Part IV (which includes provisions about the rebuttal of the presumption as to legitimacy and illegitimacy, and the entry of father's names on the registration of birth of illegitimate children).
