The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with the sea fishing industry in Scotland and Northern Ireland in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 15 of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967, as amended by section 22(1) of, and sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 38 of Part II of Schedule 1 to, the Sea Fisheries Act 1968 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:-
1. This order may be cited as the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Enforcement) Order 1973 and shall come into operation on 13th March 1973.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament and as if this order and the orders hereby revoked were Acts of Parliament.
3. The Salmon and Migratory Trout (Enforcement) Order 1971(1) and the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Enforcement) Order 1972(2) are hereby revoked.
4. For the purpose of the enforcement of (i) The Salmon (Northwest Atlantic) Order 1971(3), (ii) The Salmon and Migratory Trout (North-East Atlantic) Order 1972(4), (iii) The Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) Order 1972(5), (iv) The Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) (No. 2) Order 1972(6), and (v) The Salmon and Migratory Trout (Restrictions on Landing) Order 1972(7), and there are hereby conferred on every British sea-fishery officer the powers of a British sea-fishery officer under section 8(2) to (4) of the Sea Fisheries Act 1968.
In witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 9th February 1973.

This Order replaces the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Enforcement) Order 1972. It confers upon British sea-fishery officers specified powers necessary for the enforcement of the Salmon (Northwest Atlantic) Order 1971, the Salmon and Migratory Trout (North-East Atlantic) Order 1972, the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) Order 1972, the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) (No. 2) Order 1972 and the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Restrictions on Landing) Order 1972.
