The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with the sea fishing industry in Scotland and Northern Ireland in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 5(1) and (2) and 20(1) of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:-
1. This order may be cited as the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) Amendment Order 1975 and shall come into operation on 19th May 1975.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. In Article 3(2) of the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) (No. 2) Order 1972(1) there shall be inserted-
(a)after the word "drift-net" where it first occurs, the words "or other gill net";
(b)at the end, the following definition-"
""gill net" means
4. In accordance with the provisions of section 5(3) of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967 it is hereby declared that this order is not made for the sole purpose of giving effect to such a convention or agreement as is mentioned in section 5(1) of that Act.

This Order adds to the specified methods of fishing for salmon and migratory trout prohibited by the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Prohibition of Fishing) (No. 2) Order 1972 a further method, namely the method of fishing with any other gill nets, in addition to drift nets and other methods already prohibited.
