The Secretary of State for the Environment, with the approval of the Treasury, hereby makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraphs 1 and 4 of Schedule 2 to the Transport Act 1968 and now vested in him(1) and of all other enabling powers:-
1. This Order shall come into operation on 29th March 1976 and may be cited as the National Freight Corporation (Commencing Capital Debt) Order 1976.
2. The amount of the commencing capital debt of the National Freight Corporation due to the Secretary of State, shall be £98,096,733.

This Order fixes the commencing capital debt of the National Freight Corporation at £98,096,733. The sum represents the assets taken over by the National Freight Corporation from the Transport Holding Company and the British Railways Board under sections 4, 5 and 53 of the Transport Act 1968.
