The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1977 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1978.
2. In this Order "the Act" means
3. Sections 12 to 16 and section 17(1) and (2) of and Schedule 1 to the Act shall come into force on 1st January 1978.
4. For the purposes of the enactments brought into force by this Order, references in sections 12(9) and 15(2) of the Act to "the commencement of this Act"
5. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

This Order brings into force on 1st January 1978 those provisions of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 which relate to uncollected goods, including the repeal of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 1952 (c. 43).
