TORTS

The Torts (Interference With Goods) Act 1977 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1978

23rd April 1978

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1978.

2. The Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, so far as not already in force shall come into force in England and Wales on 1st June 1978.

3. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force in England and Wales on 1st June 1978 the remaining provisions of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 which abolish detinue and amend the law concerning interference with goods.
