Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 7(2) of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1980.
2. The provisions of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 which are listed in column (1) of the Schedule to this Order and which relate to the matters respectively specified in relation to those provisions in column (2) thereof shall (to the extent stated in the Schedule) come into force on the 28th December 1980.

This Order brings into force on 28th December 1980 the provisions of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 specified in the Schedule to the Order as a consequence of the entry into force on that date of a Protocol of the 5th July 1978 to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) (Cmnd. 7480). The Protocol introduces a new unit of account for the purposes of the Convention.
