The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 31 of Schedule 1 to the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974 ("the 1974 Act") as amended by paragraphs 31 and 32 of Part III of Schedule 16 to the Employment Protection Act 1975(1) ("the 1975 Act") and article 2 of the Administration of Estates (Small Payments) (Increase of Limit) Order 1984(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trade Union (Nominations) (Amendment) Regulations 1984 and shall come into operation on 14th September 1984.
2. In regulation 2(1) (power to make nominations) and regulation 6(1) (payments on death) of the Trade Union (Nominations) Regulations 1977 for the references to £1,500 there shall be substituted references to £5,000.

These Regulations increase from £1,500 to £5,000 the limits on the amount which a trade union member may nominate another person to receive on his death from trade union funds, and on the amount which a trade union may distribute on the death of a member to persons appearing to be entitled.
paragraph 31 of Part III of Schedule 16 to the 1975 Act substituted a reference to £1,500 for a reference to £500 in paragraph 31(1)(b) of Schedule 1 to the 1974 Act; paragraph 32 of the said Part III included the said paragraph 31(1)(b) among the provisions with respect to which by order under section 6(1) of the Administration of Estates (Small Payments) Act 1965 (c. 32) references to a higher amount may be substituted for references to the amount for the time being provided for.
this Order, made under section 6(1) of the Administration of Estates (Small Payments) Act 1965, substituted a reference to £5,000 for the reference to £1,500 in paragraph 31(1)(b) of Schedule 1 to the 1974 Act.
