The Secretary of State, in exercise of his power under section 8(2) of the Oil and Pipelines Act 1985, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Oil and Pipelines Act 1985 (Commencement) Order 1985.
2. The provisions of the Oil and Pipelines Act 1985, except those referred to in section 8(3) thereof, shall come into force on 1st December 1985.

This Order brings into force on 1st December 1985 those provisions of the Oil and Pipelines Act 1985 other than section 3, Schedule 2 and Part I of Schedule 4 (which will come into force on the transfer date as defined in section 3(1)) and Part II of Schedule 4 (which will come into force on the dissolution of the British National Oil Corporation).
