PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION OF TERRORISM

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 13 and 14(7) of and paragraph 1(6) of Schedule 3 to the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984(1), I hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Prevention of Terrorism (Supplemental Temporary Provisions) (Amendment No. 2) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 1st October 1987.

2. Schedule 2 to the Prevention of Terrorism (Supplemental Temporary Provisions) Order 1984(2) (which designates certain ports for the purposes of article 11 of that Order) shall be amended by the insertion of "London-City" after "Liverpool" in the list of designated airports.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This order amends the Prevention of Terrorism (Supplemental Temporary Provisions) Order 1984 by adding London City Airport to the list of airports which are designated ports for the purposes of article 11 of the 1984 Order. Article 11 inter alia requires the owners or agents of a ship or aircraft carrying passengers for reward coming from the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland or any of the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man or going to any of those places not to arrange for the ship or aircraft to call at or leave any port in Great Britain other than one listed in Schedule 2 to the 1984 Order, and thereby a designated port, for the purpose of embarking or disembarking passengers without the approval of an examining officer.
