5th January 1987
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Secretary of State granted to Swindon Cable Limited on 31st December 1986 a licence under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 ("the Act") to run the telecommunication systems specified in Annex A to that licence, in Swindon, Wiltshire. A copy of the licence was laid before Parliament on 8th January 1987. The licence replaces a licence previously granted to Swindon Cable Limited on 29th July 1985 ("the 1985 Licence") which will be revoked. This Order replaces the Public Telecommunication System Designation (Swindon Cable Limited) Order 1985 which applies to the 1985 licence and designates the telecommunication systems specified in the new licence as public telecommunication systems. Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of the Act, Swindon Cable Limited will continue to be a public telecommunications operator when the Order comes into force.
A copy of the new licence may be obtained from the Office of Telecommunications, Atlantic House, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1N 2HQ.
S.I. 1985/1596, made under sections 9 and 104 of the Act.
