The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 56(1) and (2) of the Finance Act 1973(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Measuring Instruments (EEC InitialVerification Requirements) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st June 1987.
(2) The Measuring Instruments (EEC Initial Verification Requirements) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1986(2) are hereby revoked.
2. The Measuring Instruments (EEC Initial Verification Requirements) (Fees) Regulations 1982(3) are hereby amended as follows:-
(a)in regulation 4, by omitting the figures"£21.00"and"£16.80"and substituting therefor respectively the figures"£23.20"and"£18.40"; and
(b)in paragraph (a) of the Schedule, by omitting the figure"£36.00"and substituting therefor the figure"£39.60".

These Regulations further amend the Measuring Instruments (EEC Initial Verification Requirements) (Fees) Regulations 1982. They increase the fees payable in connection with services provided by the Department of Trade and Industry in respect of EEC initial verification of certain measuring instruments and systems (from £36.00 per hour to £39.60 per hour).
They also increase the single fee for services provided by the Department of Trade and Industry in respect of EEC initial verification of all classes of alcoholometers and alcohol hydrometers. The increase is from £21.00 to £23.20, except that, when submitted in a batch of 10 or more applications, the increase is from £16.80 to £18.40 per application.
