The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 9(2) of the Consumer Arbitration Agreements Act 1988(1) hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Consumer Arbitration Agreements Act 1988 (Appointed Day No. 2) Order 1988.
2. The appointed day for sections 6 to 8 of the Consumer Arbitration Agreements Act is 1st February 1989.

(This note is not part of the Order)
Section 9(2) of the Consumer Arbitration Agreements Act 1988 provides that the Act shall have effect in relation to contracts made on or after a day to be appointed by order and for the appointment of different days for different provisions.
The Order appoints 1st February 1989 for sections 6 to 8 of the Act which extend to Scotland.
The Consumer Arbitration Agreements Act 1988 (Appointed Day No. 1) Order 1988 (S.I. 1988/1598) appointed 1st October 1988 for sections 1 to 5 of the Act which extend to England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
