LANDLORD AND TENANT

The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 62(2) of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1988.
2. The following provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 shall come into force on 18th April 1988-
(a)Part II (appointment of managers by the court);
(b)Part III (compulsory acquisition by tenants of their landlord's interest);
(c)Part IV (variation of leases);
(d)sections 52 to 60 (general) insofar as they relate to the provisions mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (c) above;
(e)Section 61(1) (consequential amendments) insofar as it gives effect to paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 4.

This Order brings into force on 18th April 1988 the following provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987, together with associated amendments-
Part II, which concerns the right for tenants of flats to apply to the court for an order appointing a manager to act in relation to those premises;
Part III, which concerns the right for certain tenants of flats, in specified circumstances, to apply to the court for an order providing for a person nominated by them to acquire their landlord's interest in the premises without his consent;
Part IV, which concerns the right for any party to a long lease of a flat or, in specified circumstances another dwelling, which fails to make satisfactory provision for certain matters, to apply to the court for an order varying the lease in such manner as is specified in the application;
Part VII, (partially) which contains general and supplementary provisions.
(This note is not part of the Order)
The following provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 have been brought into force by a commencement order made before the date of this Order-
