The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 447(2) of the Housing Act 1985(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Home Purchase Assistance (Recognised Lending Institutions) (No. 1) Order 1988 and comes into force on 12th February 1988.
2. The bodies named in the Schedule to this Order are hereby added to the list in section 447(1) of the Housing Act 1985.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order adds five additional bodies to the list in section 447(1) of the Housing Act 1985. Such bodies are lending institutions recognised for the purposes of section 445 of the Act and may receive advances from the Secretary of State to enable them to provide assistance to first-timer purchasers of house property (the "Homeloan" Scheme).
