This Statutory Instrument has been made in consequence of a defect in S.I. 1988/743 and is being issued free of charge to all known recipients of that Statutory Instrument.

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 81A of the Solicitors Act 1974(1) and with the concurrence of the Lord Chief Justice and the Master of the Rolls, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Commissioners for Oaths (Fees) (No. 2) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st July 1988.
(2) In this Order"commissioners for oaths" includes a solicitor exercising the powers of a commissioner for oaths under section 81 of the Solicitors Act 1974.
2. The following fees (inclusive of value added tax where payable) shall be charged by commissioners for oaths:-

And in addition, for each exhibit therein referred to and required to be marked or for each schedule required to be marked ... ... ... ... | 1.00 |
3. The Commissioners for Oaths (Fees) Order 1988(2) is hereby revoked, save as to any fee due or payable before the coming into force of this Order.

This Order replaces the Commissioners for Oaths (Fees) Order 1988 which increased the fees chargeable by commissioners for oaths and practising solicitors for taking affidavits and similar declarations from £3.00 to £3.50 and for marking exhibits from 75p to £1.00. The increased amounts include value added tax where payable.
