Laid before Parliament

Coming into force
31st July 1989
In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 22(1) and (2) and 29(2) of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985(1), I hereby make the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Prosecution of Offences (Custody Time Limits) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1989.
(2) In these Regulations "the principal regulations" means the Prosecution of Offences (Custody Time Limits) Regulations 1987(2) and "the amendment regulations" means the Prosecution of Offences (Custody Time Limits) (Amendment) Regulations 1989(3).
(3) These Regulations shall come into force on 31st July 1989.
2. The principal regulations shall have effect as if in regulation 2 of the amendment regulations for "Northumbria" there had been substituted "Northumberland" and after the entry for Suffolk there had been inserted "Tyne and Wear".

One of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State
Home Office

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations rectify a drafting slip in the Prosecution of Offences (Custody Time Limits) (Amendment) Regulations 1989 (S.I. 1989/767), where in regulation 2 the counties of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear are incorrectly referred to as "Northumbria" (the police area constituted by those counties).
By virtue of regulation 1(3) the Regulations come into force on 31st July 1989.
