The A33 Trunk Road (Popham-�Kingsworthy) Detrunking Order 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

2. In this Order:-�

(i)"the deposited plan"means the plan numbered RSE/M3/4A/08/1/1 marked "The A33 (Popham-�Kingsworthy) Detrunking Order 1989" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

(ii)"principal road"as a classification for a highway, means that the highways is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(iii)"the trunk road"means the Basingstoke-�Southampton Trunk Road (A33).

3. This Order shall come into force on 20th October 1989 and may be cited as the A33 Trunk Road (Popham-�Kingsworthy) Detrunking Order 1989.

THE SCHEDULELENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be trunk road is that length which is situated between its junction with the A303/A30 trunk road at Popham and its junction with the A3090 London road at Kingsworthy, including the slip roads connecting the trunk road with the U258 Road to Popham, all in the Count of Hampshire.
