1. This Order may be cited as the Firemen's Pension Scheme (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st June 1989.
2.-(1) The Scheme set out in Appendix 2 to the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order 1973(3) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this article.
(2) In article 55(1) (pensionable pay), at the end there shall be added the following provision-�
"Provided that, in the case of a person by whom pension contributions become payable under article 56 on or after 1st June 1989, no account shall be taken, for the purposes of determining his pensionable pay, of any amount by which that pay exceeds an amount equivalent to an annual rate of £60,000.
In this paragraph a reference to contributions becoming payable is a reference to their becoming payable either for the first time or following any period in respect of which they were not payable.".

This Order amends the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order 1973 by limiting the amount of pay which may be counted for the purposes of determining the pensionable pay of a regular fireman to £60,000.
1947 c. 41. Section 26 was amended and extended by section 42 of the Reserve and Auxiliary Forces (Protectionof Civil Interests) Act 1951 (c. 65) and sections 12 and 16 of the Superannuation Act 1972 (c. 11).

S.I. 1973/966, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
