The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 47(4) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988(1), hereby makes the following Order:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the Copyright (Material Open to Public Inspection) (Marking of Copies of Plans and Drawings) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 15th August 1990.
2. Subsection (2) of section 47 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 shall, in the case of a plan or drawing which is open to public inspection pursuant to a statutory requirement, apply only to copies of the plan or drawing marked in the following manner-�
"This copy has been made by or with the authority of [insert the name of the person required to make the plan or drawing open to public inspection] pursuant to section 47 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Unless that Act provides a relevant exception to copyright, the copy must not be copied without the prior permission of the copyright owner.".

Section 47(2) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 provides exceptions to copyright in the case of material which is open to public inspection pursuant to a statutory requirement. This Order provides that, in the case of copies of plans and drawings, the exceptions apply only to copies which are marked in the manner specified in article 2 of the Order.
