The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6(1), (2) and (3), and 7(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order shall come into force on 6th August 1990 and may be cited as the A41 Trunk Road (Finchley Road, Camden) (Box Junctions) Order 1990.
2. In this Order-
"boxed areas" means the areas of the carriageways of the trunk road specified in the Schedule to this Order, being areas of the said carriageway which are marked by the traffic sign specified in diagram 1044 in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1981(2); and
"the trunk road" means that part of the London-Carlisle-Glasgow-Inverness Trunk Road (A41) in the London Borough of Camden known as Finchley Road.
3. Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter either of the boxed areas if it would become necessary for the whole or any part of the vehicle to remain stationary within either of those areas due to the presence of other stationary vehicles.
4. The provisions of article 3 above shall not apply-
(a)in respect of a vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes;
(b)to anything done on the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden;
(c)so as to render it unlawful to cause or permit the whole, or any part of a vehicle to remain stationary within either of the boxed areas while waiting to complete a right turn for so long as the vehicle is prevented from completing that turn by reason of the presence of other stationary vehicles, waiting in or near either of those areas to complete a right turn; or
(d)so as to render it unlawful to cause or permit the whole or any part of a vehicle to remain stationary in either of the boxed areas if when the whole or any part of the vehicle entered those areas the person so causing or permitting has reason to believe that he would immediately be able to cause or permit the vehicle to be driven out of either of those areas.

Article 2
1. The area of the trunk road for northbound traffic at the junction of the trunk road with Frognal Court.
2. The area of the trunk road for southbound traffic at the junction of the trunk road with Frognal Court.
S.I. 1981/859, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
