The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 of the Civil List Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, and having taken account of the information afforded by the report made by the Royal Trustees under section 5 of that Act and laid before the House of Commons on 15 October 1990(2), hereby make the following Order:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the Civil List (Increase of Financial Provision) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 1st January 1991.
2. The yearly sum mentioned in section 1(1) of the Civil List Act 1972(3) (annual payment for the Queen's Civil List) shall be increased to £7,900,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 1(1) for the words "£3,850,000".
3. The yearly sum mentioned in section 3 of the Civil List Act 1937(4) (provision for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother) shall be increased to £643,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 3 for the words "£334,400".
4. The yearly sum mentioned in section 3 of the Civil List Act 1952(5) (provision for His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh) shall be increased to £359,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 3 for the words "£186,500".
5. The yearly sums mentioned in section 4(1) of the Civil List Act 1952(6) (provision for Her Majesty's younger children) shall be increased as follows:
(a)the sum of £20,000 in section 4(1)(a) (provision for younger sons of Her Majesty) shall be increased to £96,000;
(b)the sum of £30,000 in section 4(1)(b) (additional provision for a married son of Her Majesty) shall be increased to £45,000 together with, in the case of His Royal Highness the Duke of York, a supplemental sum of £108,000;
(c)the sum of £101,200 in section 4(1)(b) (additional provision for a married daughter of Her Majesty) shall be increased to £213,000,
and accordingly in the said section 4(1)(a) for the words "£20,000" there shall be substituted the words "£96,000", and in the said section 4(1)(b) for the words "who marries, £30,000 in the case of a son and £101,200 in the case of a daughter" there shall be substituted the words "who marries, £45,000 in the case of a son, together with, in the case of His Royal Highness the Duke of York, a supplemental sum of £108,000, and £213,000 in the case of a daughter".
6. The yearly sum mentioned in section 5(1) of the Civil List Act 1952(7) (provision for Her Royal Highness the Princess Margaret) shall be increased to £213,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 5(1) for the words
""£107,100".
7. The yearly sum mentioned in secion 2(7) of the Civil List Act 1972(8) (provision for Her Royal Highness Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester) shall be increased to £87,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 2(7) for the words "£45,800".
8. The yearly sum mentioned in section 3(1) of the Civil List Act 1972(9) (provision for making contributions towards the expenses of the performance of duties pertaining to the Royal Family by those of Their Royal Highnesses for whom Parliament has not made other provision) shall be increased to £636,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 3(1) for the words "£331,000".
9. The sum mentioned in section 5 of the Civil List Act 1837(10) (Civil List pensions) shall be increased to £15,000, and accordingly that sum shall be substituted in the said section 5 for the words "£10,000".
10. The Civil List (Increase of Financial Provision) Order 1984(11) is hereby revoked.

This Order increases the annual payment for the Queen's Civil List, namely that sum appropriated to the salaries and expenses of Her Majesty's Household, and royal bounty, alms and special services. The amount now authorised by this Order is £7,900,000, in place of £3,850,000 fixed by the Civil List (Increase of Financial Provision) Order 1984 ("the 1984 Order") (article 2).
This Order also provides for the following increases in the yearly sums or aggregate yearly sums payable to other Members of the Royal Family:-�
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother from £334,400 to £643,000 (article 3)
HRH the Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh from £186,500 to £359,000 (article 4)
HRH the Duke of York from £50,000 to £249,000 (article 5)
HRH the Prince Edward from £20,000 to £96,000 (article 5)
HRH the Princess Royal from £116,200 to £228,000 (article 5)
HRH the Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon from £113,100 to £219,000 (article 6)
HRH Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester from £45,800 to £87,000 (article 7).
These sums include, in the case of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal £15,000 payable under section 4(1)(a) of the 1952 Act and in the case of Her Royal Highness the Princess Margaret, £6,000 payable under section 6(1) of Civil List Act 1937.
This Order also increases the annual sum paid to the Royal Trustees, as a contribution towards the expenses of official duties, for those members of the Royal Family for whom Parliament has not made other provision. The Order provides for the total sum for that purpose to be increased to £636,000 from £331,000 (article 8).
This Order authorises an increase to £15,000 of the yearly sum which may be used for new awards of Civil List Pensions (article 9).
Except for His Royal Highness the Prince Edward all the yearly sums increased by this Order have hitherto been supplemented out of money voted by Parliament under section 1 of the Civil List Act 1975 (c. 82).
The Order revokes the 1984 Order.
The Order comes into force on 1st January 1991.
