The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers.
1. The County Council of West Glamorgan (A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth Classified Road) (Construction of Bridge Over Navigable Waters) Scheme 1989 is hereby confirmed without modification.
2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as "the Scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff CF1 5DX and at the West Glamorgan County Council, County Clerk's Department, County Hall, Swansea.
3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.
4. This Instrument may be cited as the County Council of West Glamorgan (A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth Classified Road) (Construction of Bridge Over Navigable Waters) Scheme 1989 Confirmation Instrument 1990.

The County Council of West Glamorgan make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and all other enabling powers:-�
1. The Council are authorised in relation to the Classified Road known as the A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth in the County of West Glamorgan to construct a new bridge over the navigable waters known as the River Tawe, within the City of Swansea as described in the Schedule hereto and shown on the deposited plan by cross hatching.
2. In this Scheme:-�
"The Classified Road" means the A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth, being a highway which the Council propose to construct and which has been classified by the Secretary of State for Wales as a Classified Road for the purpose of Section 12 of the Highways Act 1980.
"The Council" means the County Council of West Glamorgan.
"The deposited plan" means plan number 1 marked the "County Council of West Glamorgan, (A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth Classified Road) (Construction of bridge over navigable waters) Scheme 1989" sealed with the Common Seal of the Council and deposited at the Offices of the Council at County Hall Swansea.
"The new Bridge" means the bridge authorised by the Scheme to be constructed.
3. This Scheme may be cited as the County Council of West Glamorgan (A4217 Cross-Valley Link at Pentrechwyth Classified Road) (Construction of bridge over navigable waters) Scheme 1989
Plan and Specification of the proposed Road Bridge over the River Tawe (Plan No. 1).
The new bridge runs for a distance of 64 metres in a south-easterly direction over the River Tawe. The centre line of the new bridge is approximately 200 metres downstream of the extended line of the southern end of the Addis Factory, Pentrechwyth.
