The Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Persons) Order 1991

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 4(3) of the Banking Act 1987(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, and after consultation with the Bank of England, hereby order as follows:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Persons) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 26th December 1991.

Exemption

2. Schedule 2 to the Banking Act 1987 shall be amended by the addition of the following new entry after the entry numbered "10"-�

"10A.-(1) Keesler Federal Credit Union.

(2) This paragraph applies only to the acceptance of deposits made by members, or dependants of members, of a visiting force of the United States of America, or by members, or dependants of members, of a civilian component of such a force, where "member", "dependant", "visiting force" and "member of a civilian component" have the meanings given to them by the Visiting Forces Act 1952(2).".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This order adds Keesler Federal Credit Union to the list in Schedule 2 to the Banking Act 1987 of persons exempted from section 3 of that Act (restriction on acceptance of deposits) in respect of deposits made by members of U.S. forces, members of the civilian component of U.S. forces, and their dependants.
