The City of Bradford Metropolitan Council (Salts Mill to Otley RoadLink Road, Canal Bridge) Scheme 1990 Confirmation Instrument 1991

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument inexercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The City of Bradford Metropolitan Council (Salts Mill to Otley RoadLink Road, Canal Bridge) Scheme 1990 is hereby confirmed withmodification.

2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as"the Scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme, asconfirmed, with its accompanying plans are deposited at the Departmentof Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY and atthe offices of the Director of Legal Services, City of BradfordMetropolitan Council, Room 102 First Floor, City Hall, Bradford.

3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that ithas been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 ofSchedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4. This Instrument may be cited as the City of Bradford MetropolitanCouncil (Salts Mill to Otley Road Link Road, Canal Bridge) Scheme 1990Confirmation Instrument 1991.

THE SCHEDULECITY OF BRADFORD METROPOLITAN COUNCIL (SALTS MILL TO OTLEY ROAD LINK ROAD, CANAL BRIDGE) SCHEME 1990

CITY OF BRADFORD METROPOLITAN COUNCIL (hereinafter referred to as"The Council") make this scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106(3)of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters ofthe Leeds and Liverpool Canal the bridge specified in the schedule tothe scheme as part of the highway which they are proposing to constructbetween Ashley Lane (Salts Mill) and Otley Road (A6038) Bradford in thesaid district.

2. This Scheme may be cited as the City of Bradford MetropolitanCouncil (Salts Mill to Otley Road Link Road, Canal Bridge) Scheme 1990.

SCHEDULE WITH KEY PLAN (PLAN "A"), SITE PLANS (PLANS "B" & "C") AND ELEVATION (PLAN "D") ATTACHED

PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE BRIDGE CROSSING THE LEEDS ANDLIVERPOOL CANAL AT SALTS MILL TO OTLEY ROAD LINK ROAD (BETWEEN ASHLEYLANE AND OTLEY ROAD). 2

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION (See Plan "B")

From a point north-east of the centre line of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in the Metropolitan District of the City of Bradford in the County of West Yorkshire 60 metres south south-east from the eastern most corner of dwelling No. 8 Jane Hills and 62 metres west from the south-western most corner of Crown House.

To a point south-west of the centre line of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal 67 metres south from the eastern most corner of dwelling No. 8 Jane Hills and 78 metres west from the south-western most corner of Crown House.

CONSTRUCTION

Precast prestressed concrete beams on masonery faced abutments.

SPAN

17.5 metres (approx.) clear span approximately square to the centre line of canal.

WIDTH

7.3m single carriageway, with 2X2m footways (overall width 11.3m).

HEADROOM

3.15 metres minimum headroom above water level and 2.50 metres minimum headroom above the new footpath.

WATERWAY

The existing north-eastern canal bank retaining wall will be retained. A new south-western canal bank retaining wall would be constructed immediately in front of the existing retaining wall. This would have the effect of reducing the minimum waterway width from 11.65 metres to 11.30 metres. A new footpath would be provided along the south-western bank.

GIVEN under the Common Seal of the Council this 11th day of January 1990.
