The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(2) of the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 1989(1), hereby makes the following Order-
1. This Order may be cited as the Statute law (Repeals) Act 1989 (Commencement) Order 1992.
2. The repeal by the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 1989 of-
(a) section 3 of the Federation of Malaya Independence Act 1957(2); and
(b) section 5 of the Malaysia Act 1963(3),
shall come into force on 1st June 1992. Dated 22nd May 1992

This Order brings into force the repeal of section 3 of the Federation of Malaya Independence Act 1957 and section 5 of the Malaysia Act 1963 by section 1 of the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 1989. The repealed provisions provided jurisdiction for the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in relation to appeals from Malaysia. The repeals are consequential on the abolition by Malaysian legislation of appeals to the Judicial Committee from courts in Malaysia.
