The Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) (Amendment) Regulations 1992

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Secretary of State for Wales and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 16(1), (1A) and (8) and 38(1) of the Plant Varieties and Seeds Act 1964(1), as extended to Northern Ireland(2), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf(3), after consultation in accordance with the said section 16(1) with representatives of such interests as appear to them to be concerned, hereby make the following Regulations:

Title and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 5th August 1992.

Amendment

2. In Part I of Schedule 1 to the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) Regulations 1982(4) there shall be inserted after the words "Festuca rubra L." the words

and after the words "Red fescue, Chewings fescue" the word "Festulolium".

In witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 29th June 1992.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations which further amend the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) Regulations 1982 implement Council Directive 70/457/EEC (OJ L225, 12.10.70, p.1) as extended by Commission Directive 92/19/EEC (OJ No. L104, 22.4.92, p.61) by adding Festulolium (a cross between Meadow fescue and Italian Ryegrass) to the Regulations.
