In pursuance of section 2 of the Poisons Act 1972(1), and after consultation with the Poisons Board, I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Poisons List (Amendment) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st November 1992.
2. The Poisons List(2) shall be amended as follows-
(a)in Part I of the List, for the entry relating to phenols there shall be substituted the following:
"Phenols (phenol; phenolic isomers of the following- cresols, xylenols, monoethylphenols) except in substances containing less than sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols; compounds of phenols with a metal, except in substances containing less than the equivalent of sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols"; and
(b)in Part II of the List, for the entry relating to phenols there shall be substituted the following:
"Phenols (as defined in Part I of this List) in substances containing less than sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols; compounds of phenols with a metal in substances containing less than the equivalent of sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols".

This Order, which comes into force on 1st November 1992, provides a more specific definition of phenols for the purposes of the Poisons List.
