The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 32(8) of the Ports Act 1991(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Ports Act 1991 (Transfer of Local Lighthouses: Appointed Day) Order 1992.
2. April 1st 1993 is hereby appointed as the transfer date for the purposes of section 32 of the Ports Act 1991.

This Order appoints 1st April 1993 as the day for the transfer under section 32 of the Ports Act 1991 of property specified in proposals submitted to the Secretary of State under subsection (1), as modified by him under subsection (6), of that section (transfer of local lighthouses, buoys and beacons and other property used in connection therewith).
By virtue of section 42(2) of the 1991 Act, sections 31 and 33 (and section 34 so far as it relates to either of those sections) did not come into force when the Act received Royal Assent but come into force on the day appointed by this Order. Section 31 provides that every harbour authority shall be a local lighthouse authority and amends section 653 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1984 (c. 60). Section 33 provides for the subsequent transfer from a general lighthouse authority to a harbour authority of individual local lighthouses, buoys or beacons and amends section 654 of that Act.
