The National Health Service (General Medical Services) Amendment Regulations 1992

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 29 and 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Medical Services) Amendment Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 2 November 1992.

Amendment of Regulations

2.-(1) The National Health Service (General Medical Services) Regulations 1992(2) shall be amended in accordance with the following paragraphs of this regulation.

(2) In Schedule 10 (drugs and other substances not to be prescribed for supply under pharmaceutical services)-

(a)the following entries shall be omitted:-

(b)the following entries shall be inserted at such places in the alphabetical order of the entries in that Schedule as are appropriate, having regard to the initial letter of each entry:-

(c)in the entry for "Rite-Diet Gluten-Free Biscuits", for the words "half-coated", there shall be substituted the words "milk".

(3) In Schedule 11 (drugs to be prescribed under pharmaceutical services only in certain circumstances), after the entries relating to Clobazam, there shall be inserted in columns 1, 2 and 3 respectively the following-

"CyanocobalaminA patient who is a vegan or who has a proven vitamin B12 deficiency of dietary originTreatment or prevention of vitamin B12 deficiency"

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Medical Services) Regulations 1992 ("the Principal Regulations ") which regulate the terms on which doctors provide general medical services under the National Health Service Act 1977.
