The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 4) Order 1992

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-�

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 4) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st December 1992.

Abolition of Authorities

2. The following District Health Authorities are hereby abolished:-�

(a)Airedale Health Authority;

(b)Bradford Health Authority;

(c)Harrogate Health Authority;

(d)Northallerton Health Authority;

(e)Scarborough Health Authority;

(f)York Health Authority.

Establishment and names of new Authorities

3.-(1) Bradford Health Authority is established a District Health Authority for Bradford District(2).

(2) North Yorkshire Health Authority is established a District Health Authority for North Yorkshire District(2).

Amendment of the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990

4. In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the entries in columns (1) and (2) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990(3) shall be amended-�

(a)by the omission of the entries relating to Airedale District;

(b)by the omission of the entries relating to Harrogate District, Northallerton District, Scarborough District and York District and the insertion after the entries relating to Leeds District of the entries-�

"North YorkshireNorth Yorkshire Health Authority".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order abolishes on 1st December 1992 the District Health Authorities named in article 2 and establishes the Bradford Health Authority and the North Yorkshire Health Authority. The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes.

The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished Health Authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 4) Order 1992.
