The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (6) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970(1) and now vested in him(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and the Secretary of State for Wales in exercise of the powers conferred on him by those provisions, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 9th December 1992.
2. Each of the following, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State to be exercising functions of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England and Wales:
Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools in England
Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales
Bethnal Green City Challenge Company Limited
Bradford City Challenge Limited
Deptford City Challenge Limited
Hulme Regeneration Limited
Nottingham City Challenge Partnership Limited.
3. Agreements which may be entered into by a company by virtue of this Order shall be restricted to agreements with a local authority for the supply of goods or materials, or the provision of administrative, professional or technical services, by that authority to that body, in connection with financial or other assistance given or to be given to that body by any person for the purposes of the regeneration of any part of that authority's area.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates Her Majesty's Chief Inspectors of Schools in England and in Wales, and five limited companies as public bodies under the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970.
The effect of the designation is to allow a local authority to provide goods and services to those bodies. In the case of the companies, it may only do so so long as the provision is in connection with financial or other assistance to that body by any person for the purposes of the regeneration of any part of that authority's area.
