The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under section 9(2)(a) of the Severn Bridges Act 1992(1) (in this Order referred to as "the Act of 1992") and of all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Severn Bridges Tolls Order 1992 and shall, in accordance with section 9(2)(a) of the Act of 1992, come into force on 26th April 1992.
2. The tolls leviable in respect of vehicles within the categories referred to in section 8(1) of the Act of 1992 using the existing bridge shall be as follows:-
Category 1 vehicles £2.80
Category 2 vehicles £5.60
Category 3 vehicles £8.40

This Order fixes the tolls payable for use of the Severn Bridge from 26th April until the end of 1992.
The Order comes into force on the appointed day for the purposes of the Severn Bridges Act 1992, when tolls will become leviable by Severn River Crossing Plc in accordance with a concession agreement with the Secretary of State. The tolls will only be payable for traffic travelling from east to west and for vehicles (other than those exempted by section 8(5)) within the categories specified in section 8(1) of the Act of 1992. These are (1) motor cars and motor caravans, (2) small goods vehicles and small buses and (3) other goods vehicles and buses.
In accordance with section 9 of the Act of 1992, the toll for each category has been fixed by adjusting the amounts shown in the table in section 9(3) by the percentage increase in the retail prices index between March 1989 and September 1991 and applying the rounding provisions of section 9(6). The adjustment before rounding is an increase of 19.85752
