This Order corrects an error in article 3(b) of the Radioactive Substances (Substances of Low Activity) Exemption Order 1986 ("the 1986 Order").
The 1986 Order is concerned with exemptions and exclusions under the Radioactive Substances Act 1960 ("the 1960 Act") in respect of certain substances of low radioactivity.
Article 3(b) of the 1986 Order excludes from the controls on the disposal of radioactive waste in section 6(1) and (3) of the 1960 Actthe disposal of organic liquid waste which is radioactive solely because of the presence of carbon 14, or tritium (or both), the activity of which when it becomes waste, does not exceed 0.4 becquerels per millilitre.
This Order substitutes "4" for "0.4" in article 3(b) of the 1986 Order.
1960 c. 34; a relevant amendment was made by section 100(3) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (c. 43).
