1. The Birmingham City Council (Grand Union Canal Bridge) Scheme 1991 is hereby confirmed without modifications.
2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as "the scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY, and at the offices of The Birmingham City Council, Ingleby House, 11-14 Cannon Street, Birmingham.
3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.
4. This Instrument may be cited as the Birmingham City Council (Grand Union Canal Bridge) Scheme 1991 Confirmation Instrument 1993.

Birmingham City Council (hereinafter called "The Council") make this scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106(3) of The Highways Act 1980 and all other enabling powers:
1. The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the Grand Union Canal the Bridge specified in the Schedule to this scheme as part of a highway which they are proposing to construct between Nechells Parkway, Nechells Ward, Birmingham and Chester Road, Kingsbury Ward, Birmingham to be known as The Heartlands Spine Road, A47.
2. This Scheme may be cited as The Birmingham City Council (Grand Union Canal Bridge) Scheme 1991. Given under the Common Seal of Birmingham City Council the Nineteenth Day of July 1991.
A new bridge to be constructed from a point 175 metres northeast of the junction of Saltley Road with Nechells Place to a point 208 metres northeast of this junction.
Span 33 metres (Skew distance between abutments).
Width 27 metres (Total width measured square; consisting of 13 metres wide northbound highway, 3 metres wide light well and 11 metres wide southbound carriageway).
Headway 2.6 metres minimum (Weir to Soffit).
Construction: Prestressed beam or steel/concrete composite, abutments to be faced in brick.
Waterway: Grand Union Canal (12 metres wide) owned by The British Waterways Board.

1. Location Plan Number CRD/7251/101.
2. General arrangement of Bridge and Specification Plan Number CRD/7251/129.
