The Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Pentrebach-Cefn Coed Diversion) Order 1993

Coming into force

20th January 1994

The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2. The centre line of the new trunk road is identified by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3. The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 of this Order, and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan, shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Mid Glamorgan that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

4. In this Order:

All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.

(i)"the deposited plan"

means the plan numbered HA10/2 WO91 marked "The Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Pentrebach-Cefn Coed Diversion) Order 1993", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff;

(ii)"classified road"

as a classification for a highway means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

(iii)"the new trunk road"

means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;

(iv)"the trunk road"

means the Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470).

5. This Order shall come into force on 20th January 1994 and may be cited as the Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Pentrebach-Cefn Coed Diversion) Order 1993.

SCHEDULE 1ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

The route of the new Cardiff-Glan Conwy trunk road is a route about 7.84 kilometres (4.87 miles) starting at a point about 55 metres southwest of the trunk road at Pentrebach roundabout and going in a northerly direction to a point on the trunk road (A470) about 120 metres southeast of the junction of the trunk road with the access to The Barn at Dan-�y-�Darren, north of Cefn Coed.

SCHEDULE 2LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the Cardiff-Glan Conwy trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the trunk road starting at a point at the southern abutment of the bridge over the Taf Fawr, Cefn Coed and extending about 2.17 kilometres (1.35 miles) to a point on the trunk road (A470) about 120 metres southeast of the junction of the trunk road with the access to The Barn at Dan-�y-�Darren, north of Cefn Coed.
