Whereas a draft of the following Order was laid before Parliament, and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Number of Judges Order 1994 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
2. Section 1(1)(a) of the Administration of Justice Act 1968, prescribing the maximum number of Lords of Appeal in Ordinary, shall be amended so as to increase the maximum number to 12.
3. Section 2(1) of the Supreme Court Act 1981(3), prescribing the maximum number of ordinary judges of the Court of Appeal, shall be amended so as further to increase the maximum number to 32.

This Order amends the Administration of Justice Act 1968 by increasing the maximum number of Lords of Appeal in Ordinary from 11 to 12. The Order also amends the Supreme Court Act 1981 by increasing the maximum number of ordinary judges of the Court of Appeal from 29 to 32.
