The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the A4 Trunk Road (Hillingdon) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1996 and shall come into force on the 7th August 1996.
2. In this Order -
"the Excelsior slip road"means the slip road linking the south end of the Southbound carriageway of the M4 Heathrow Airport Spur, with the Eastbound main carriageway of the A4 Trunk Road.
3. Save as provided in article 5 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in Excelsior slip road in any direction other than from west to east.
4. The Trunk Road (M4 Motorway, Heathrow Airport Spur Road) (Prohibition of Traffic) Order 1978(3) is hereby revoked.
5. Nothing in article 3 of this Order shall apply to anything done at the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
