CONSUMER PROTECTION
Made
29th October 1996
Laid before Parliament
31st October 1996
Coming into force
2nd December 1996
Whereas the Secretary of State has, in accordance with section 11(5) of the Consumer Protection Act 1987(1), consulted such organisations as appear to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by these Regulations and such other persons as he considers appropriate:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of his powers under section 11 of the said Act, read with article 6 of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1987(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Stands for Carry-cots (Safety) (Revocation) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 2nd December 1996.
2. The Stands for Carry-cots (Safety) Regulations 1966(3) and the Stands for Carry-Cots (Safety) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1967(4) are hereby revoked.
John M Taylor
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State,
Department of Trade and Industry
29th October 1996
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations revoke the Stands for Carry-cots (Safety) Regulations 1966 and the Stands for Carry-Cots (Safety) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1967 which contain labelling, design and construction requirements for carry-cot stands.
Carry-cot stands are "products" within the scope of the General Product Safety Regulations 1994 (S.I. 1994/2328) which, in general terms, require products to be safe.
A compliance cost assessment is available, copies of which have been placed in the libraries of both Houses of Parliament. Copies are also available from the Consumer Affairs and Competition Policy Directorate of the Department of Trade and Industry, Room 4.H.3, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0ET.
