The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, being Ministers designated(1) for the purposes of subsection 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, acting jointly, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the said section 2(2) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Dairy Produce Quotas (Amendment) (Time Limits) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 23rd April 1997.
2.-(1) The Dairy Produce Quotas Regulations 1997(3) shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3) below.
(2) In paragraph (2)(a) of regulation 6 (adjustment of purchaser quota), for the words "28th April in the quota year following the end of the quota year in which such a transaction or conversion of quota takes place", there shall be substituted the words "21st May 1997 or 28 days after the date on which the transaction or conversion of quota takes place (whichever is the later)".
(3) In paragraph (1) of regulation 11 (transfer of quota without transfer of land), for the words"ten working days before the end of the quota year in which that transfer takes place", there shall be substituted the words "8th May 1997 or ten working days before the intended date of the transfer (whichever is the later)".

These Regulations are made in order to correct two defects in the Dairy Produce Quotas Regulations 1997 ("the principal Regulations").
Regulation 2(2) of these Regulations amends paragraph (2)(a) of regulation 6 of the principal Regulations by providing that, where a purchaser has had his purchaser quota increased by virtue of any transaction or conversion of quota referred to in paragraph (2) of regulation 6 of the principal Regulations, he shall submit to the Intervention Board, by the latter of 21st May 1997 and the date 28 days after such a transaction or conversion, a statement setting out the particulars of the transaction or conversion.
Regulation 2(3) of these Regulations amends paragraph (1) of regulation 11 of the principal Regulations by providing that an application for the transfer of quota without transfer of land, within the meaning of paragraph (1) of regulation 11 of the principal Regulations, shall be submitted to the Intervention Board for approval by the latter of 8th May 1997 and the date ten working days before the intended date of such transfer.
