The Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No. 2) Order 1997

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No. 2) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 4th August 1997.

2. The following are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994-

(a)Bedfordshire County Council.

(b)Devon County Council.

(c)Gloucestershire County Council.

(d)Headteachers Into Industry, a company limited by guarantee.

(e)Kent County Council.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates Bedfordshire, Devon, Gloucestershire and Kent County Councils and Headteachers Into Industry ("the Institutions") as institutions eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.

Headteachers Into Industry is a company limited by guarantee established to encourage secondments of senior education staff into industry.

As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the Institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities which the Institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
