The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27(7) of the Broadcasting Act 1990(1), hereby makes the following Order a draft of which has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Channel 4 (Application of Excess Revenues) Order 1997 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
2. In section 27(1)(a) of the Broadcasting Act 1990(2), for "50 per cent" substitute "331/3 per cent".

This Order reduces from 50% to 331/3% the percentage of the excess revenue of the Channel Four Television Corporation which must be paid to the Independent Television Commission under section 27(1)(a) of the Broadcasting Act 1990.
1990 c. 42; section 27(7) was inserted by the Broadcasting Act 1996 (c. 55), section 83(4).
Section 27(3) was amended by the Broadcasting Act 1996, section 83(3).
