1. This Scheme may be cited as the M6 Motorway (Sarendon and Packington Diversions) Scheme 1998 and shall come into force on 12th February 1998.
2. In this Scheme-
(a)"the special roads" means the two special roads which the Secretary of State is authorised to provide by article 3 below;
(b)"the plan" means the plan folio numbered HA 16/PS/20 containing 2 site plans bound together and respectively lettered A and B, marked "the M6 Motorway (Sarendon and Packington Diversions) Scheme 1998", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at the Highways Agency, Project Services, Room 12/27, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE; and
(c)a reference to a site plan followed by the letter A or B is a reference to the site plan forming part of the plan and marked with that letter.
3. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide two special roads for the exclusive use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980, along the following routes:
(a)at Sarendon in the County of Staffordshire from a point on the M6 Motorway about 1570 metres north of the centre point of the junction of the M6 Motorway and the A460 and A462 Principal Roads (M6 Junction 11-Laney Green) proceeding generally southwards to a point about 400 metres north of that Junction, a distance of about 1250 metres (this route being shown on the site plan A); and
(b)at Packington in the County of Warwickshire from a point on the M6 Motorway about 1300 metres east of the centre point of the junction of the M6 Motorway and the A446 Trunk Road (M6 Junction 4-Coleshill) proceeding generally eastwards to a point about 2430 metres east of that junction, a distance of about 1160 metres (this route being shown on site plan B).
4. The centre line of each of the special roads is indicated by heavy black line on the plan.
5. The new special roads shall become trunk roads on the date when this Scheme comes into force.
