(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations (which apply in England and Wales) amend the Police Regulations 1995 (the 1995 Regulations) by inserting a new regulation 5A which permits the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to delegate his functions as chief officer under the 1995 Regulations to one or more of the Assistant Commissioners of Police of the Metropolis to such extent and subject to such conditions as he may specify. Section 50(4)(b) of the Police Act 1996 authorises such delegation. Regulations 14(5) and 15(5) of the 1995 Regulations (which permit delegation in specified cases) are revoked as a consequence.
