The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 23(1) and (4) of the Local Government Act 1992(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Staff Commission (England) (Winding Up) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 12th May 1998.
2. The Local Government Staff Commission (England) is wound up and its rights and liabilities (if any) shall transfer to and vest in the Secretary of State.
3. The Local Government Staff Commission (England) Order 1993(2) is revoked.

This Order winds up the Local Government Staff Commission (England) ("the Staff Commission") which was established in connection with the review of the structure of English local government. Any rights and liabilities of the Staff Commission are transferred to the Secretary of State. The order which established the Staff Commission is revoked.
