In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by section 1(1) of the Football (Offences) Act 1991(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Football (Offences) (Designation of Football Matches) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 27th September 1999.
2. The Football (Offences) (Designation of Football Matches) Order 1991(2) and article 2(2)(d) of the Sports Grounds and Football (Amendment of Various Orders) Order 1992(3) are hereby revoked.
3. The association football matches specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated for the purposes of the Football (Offences) Act 1991.

Article 3
An association football match-
(a)in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League or the Football Association Premier League, or represents a club, country or territory outside England and Wales, and
(b)which is played at a sports ground which is designated by order under section 1(1) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975(4), or registered with the Football League or the Football Association Premier League as the home ground of a club which is a member of the Football League or the Football Association Premier League at the time the match is played.
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates association football matches for the purposes of the Football (Offences) Act 1991 which introduced penalties for certain types of misconduct at designated football matches.
