Whereas the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions considers it appropriate for certain roads in the London borough of Newham to be GLA side roads in the interests of the management of traffic and the control of the waiting and loading of vehicles on or in the immediate vicinity of GLA roads:
Now therefore the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) hereby makes the following Order:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the GLA Side Roads (London Borough of Newham) Designation Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th June 2000.
2.-(1) The roads in the London borough of Newham specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated as GLA side roads(2).
(2) The description of a road includes the intersection of that road and any other road that crosses it at the same level.
(3) In the Schedule "m" means metres.
(4) In accordance with section 124A(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, 3rd July 2000 is hereby specified as the date on which the designated roads are to become GLA side roads.

Article 2
1. Barking Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 15m north of that junction.
2. Beckton Road-
(a)(off-slip) between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 15m north of that junction;
(b)(on-slip) between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 25m south of that junction.
3. Beeby Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 10m south of that junction.
4. Butchers Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 10m south of that junction.
5. Forty Acre Lane between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 15m south of that junction.
6. Freemasons Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 10m south of that junction.
7. High Street South between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 40m north of that junction.
8. Manor Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 15m north of that junction.
9. New Barn Street between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 25m north of that junction.
10. Prince Regent Lane-
(a)(north arm) between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 85m north of that junction;
(b)(south arm) between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 80m south of that junction.
11. Roman Road between its junction with High Street South and a point 10m west of that junction.
12. Silvertown Way between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 40m south of that junction.
13. Stephenson Street between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point 10m north of that junction.
14. Tollgate Road between its junction with Newham Way (A13) and a point opposite the western boundary wall of 28 to 38 Tollgate Road.
15. Albert Road between its junction with Pier Road to a point 2m east of the eastern kerbline of Store Road.
16 Armada Way between its junction with Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and a point 20m north east of that junction.
17. Barge House Road between its junction with Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and a point 20m south east of that junction.
18. Milk Street between its junction with Albert Road (A117) and a point 5m north west of that junction.
19. Pier Road-
(a)(north arm) between its junction with Albert Road (A117) and a point 15m north of that junction;
(b)(west arm) between its junction with Ferry Approach and a point 20m west of that junction.
20. Royal Albert Way between its junction with Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and a point 27m west of that junction.
21. Woodman Street between its junction with Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and a point 5m north west of that junction.
22. Woolwich Manor Way-
(a)(that length which lies south east of Albert Road) between its junction with Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and a point 20m south east of that junction;
(b)from its junction with Gallions roundabout northwards for a distance of 40m.
23. Barking Road between its junction with South Woodford to Barking Relief Road (A406) and a point 65m west of that junction, including the trunk road/slip roads.
24. Clapps Gate Lane from its junction with Royal Docks Road (A1020) westward for 40m.
25. Eric Clark Lane from its junction with Royal Docks Road (A1020) eastward for 20m.
26. Unnamed access road into the British Gas site from its junction with the unnamed roundabout on Royal Docks Road (A1020), to the gates of North Thames Gas a distance of 45m.
27. Eastern Gateway Grade Separation Bridge eastern slip road from its junction with the southbound carriageway of Royal Docks Road (A1020) to the bottom of the slip road western parapet.
28. Eastern Gateway Grade Separation Bridge western slip road from its junction with the northbound carriageway of Royal Docks Road (A1020) to the bottom of the slip road eastern parapet.

Section 272 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 inserts a new section 124A into the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 whereby the Secretary of State may designate roads or proposed roads which are to be GLA side roads, for which Transport for London will be the traffic authority. This Order designates the roads in the London Borough of Newham specified in the Schedule as GLA side roads with effect from 3rd July 2000.
